To reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support the transition away from fossil fuels, Alperia continues to expand its renewable electricity generation capacity, complementing hydropower with technologies such as wind and solar power. Today, we generate around 4 TWh of electricity from renewable sources each year, primarily from hydropower.
Wind energy
Alperia entered the wind energy sector through an equal joint venture with Alerion Clean Power S.p.A., a leading Italian operator in the field. The partnership led to the creation of Alperion, a company dedicated to developing and managing a portfolio of wind farms in Apulia.
The portfolio currently comprises wind farms with a total capacity of approximately 120 MW. Wind power generation helps diversify the Group’s energy mix and increase the proportion of electricity generated from renewable sources.
Solar energy
Alperia is also expanding its activities in the solar power sector. Alongside solutions for residential and commercial photovoltaic systems, the Group has taken an important step into direct solar electricity generation by acquiring a photovoltaic park in the province of Biella, Piedmont.
The acquired facility has an installed capacity of 6.4 MW and an estimated annual output of around 10 GWh, equivalent to the average electricity consumption of approximately 3,700 households.
These initiatives are part of Alperia’s strategic plan to increase electricity generation from renewable sources, further strengthening the Group’s position in the sector and supporting the energy transition.
