It all begins with water: a precious resource, deeply connected to our region and our history.
Amid the mountains of South Tyrol, water has always been part of life in the region. The landscape and its central location in the Alpine arc create particularly favourable conditions for harnessing the power of water and transforming it into electricity from a renewable source. Hydropower therefore plays an important role in the local energy system.
This commitment is also reflected in the Environmental Funds, through which we plan to invest approximately €400 million over a period of 30 years in projects dedicated to enhancing and protecting the region. These resources finance environmental compensation measures linked to the renewal of hydroelectric concessions.
Since 2011, Alperia has allocated the following amounts each year through the Environmental Funds:

EMAS registration
EMAS registration is a voluntary environmental certification tool established by the European Union for companies and public bodies to assess, report and improve their environmental performance. The main focus of this tool is the environmental statement in which the organisation explains its processes, their environmental impacts, legal requirements and voluntary standards met, and indicates its improvement programme to zero or minimise its environmental impacts.
As stipulated in the EMAS regulation, the environmental statement is prepared every three years and updated annually.
