This is why the new Strategic Plan, which ranges from 2020 to 2024, is called One Vision – its name underlines our intention to apply a single integrated vision that places sustainability at the centre and that illustrates our commitment to achieve the 10 sustainable goals most relevant to the Group through the significant growth of all our business units.

Moreover, the 2020-2024 Business Plan’s update also highlights the Group's significant role in a continued responsible use of water resources and the concrete and measurable reduction of emissions. Innovation, staff training and support to the social fabric and to communities are the strategic drivers on which we increasingly focus year after year, in order to attain human, social, responsible and also economic growth.

More in detail, we decided to allocate 80% of the Plan’s investments to achieving at least 10 United Nations’ sustainable goals, focusing on territorial, environmental, economic and social impact and with one main mission: become Net Zero.

As per our Sustainability Policy, we are focusing on five main action areas:

Employees
  • Health and safety at work
  • Employee development
  • Diversity and equal opportunities
Development & innovation
  • Innovation
  • Research and development
  • Sustainable products and services

and, more specifically, we intend to direct our efforts on three trends:

Customer focus

Partly due to the ongoing pandemic, we are implementing new business models to liaise with customers through new digital channels. In particular, our digitalisation plan – requiring an investment of over €50 million – entails the total migration of all company data centres to the cloud and the digitalisation of all processes, with the aim of reaching the target of 1 million customers by 2024.

Still in the field of innovation, our Alperia Startup Factory initiatives will continue, with the possible launch of a venture capital activity to further support the development of start-ups.

Finally, in the hydroelectric sector, innovation activities will also be fostered through the recently established Alperia Innoveering, a joint venture with Hydrodata – this will enable the introduction of new solutions related to IoT, artificial intelligence, blockchain, Industry 4.0, and so on, in the Group's hydroelectric plants.

Territorial aggregations

We have the potential to expand at a territorial level. We will therefore assess new opportunities for growth and partnership by providing our innovative service platform based on scalable business models, which can be adapted to the needs of territories and future partners.

Energy transition

A key objective in our integrated business strategy is to become a major partner for our stakeholders in order to support them in taking the energy transition forward, an issue that has become even more urgent, due to COVID-19 and the raised awareness about the scarcity of resources on our planet.

From words to deeds accomplished by 2024

The following actions will help us accomplish these objectives by 2024:

biodiversità

thanks to:

  • new technologies (the conversion of some existing plants to biomass, the new headquarters in Merano, the development of energy efficiency projects);
  • the offsetting of the remaining quantity of operational emissions (Scope 1 and 2) through climate protection projects;
  • the increased share of renewable electricity and green gas sold to customers;
  • the establishment of emission reduction targets in line with SBTi requirements
servizi verdi alperia
  • 86% of our private customers supplied with green electricity and 45% with green gas;
  • new private customers supplied with 100% green electricity and green gas;
  • ~100 MW of new thermal power connected to our district heating network.
espansione smart region

through:

  • the development of electric mobility and green hydrogen on the national territory;
  • the integration of more energy-efficient technologies for our customers (building efficiency, photovoltaic systems, sensor technology in agriculture).
